There really were other people in his age group...the awards were just so late in the day that most people had left.

We went to Vegas in November and also decided to visit the Hoover Dam, since we had never been there before. It was amazing, except for the part when the camera was dropped and broken! We did manage to get a few pictures before the camera incident.

It's been a while since I updated... here is some of what we have done since the last post. Trevor ran his first marathon and did great! He placed in his age group and won an awesome moose trophy!

We went to Zion's national park for a short get-away. We also went and saw Tarzan at Tuacahn, which was fun.

For our third anniversary, we went to see the Lion King. We bought our tickets months ago when they first went on sale. The best seats available just happened to be on our anniversary. The show was incredible. We had a great anniversary and I look forward to many more.

California/Disneyland Half Marathon

After running the Salt Lake City half marathon, I decided that I really wanted to do another race. The Disneyland half marathon looked like a lot of fun, so we signed up. Months later, the race day finally arrived and we had a blast! We took a road trip through Vegas to California. After the race, we spent some time with Trevor's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins, which is always fun. It was a busy trip, but well worth all the driving, planning, and hurrying from place to place.

Okay, it's been a few months since I updated...since the last post, Trevor has started his first semester of nursing school, I have finished my last semester clinicals in family practice (1 more day of class left), and we have been busy as usual. We went skiing a bunch of times in Park City, we have been exercising a lot because we are training for the Salt Lake half marathon this weekend, and we have just been spending time together when we can fit it to in our busy lives. Here are a few pictures from the past couple months.

The past few weeks have been really busy. The semester finally finished..whew. We have had a few parties and lots of fun with our family and friends!

The past few months have flown by. Trevor and I have both been extremely busy with school. We had a great Thanksgiving with the Harris family, we have been to a couple concerts, and we have spent a lot of time studying and doing homework. I have have been slacking a bit on the picture taking, but here are some of the recent pictures I have taken.

We had lots of fun this Halloween. We went to a work party on Friday night and then to both of our parents houses on Saturday night. It was really fun to dress up- and dress up the dogs. Jersey wore her Halloween shirt all day and Harley wore his Halloween bandana. They looked so cute! Trevor picked out the costumes for us this year- next year I get to pick. It was the first year that Trevor and I have dressed up- and the first time I have dressed up since high school. I think we are going to have to dress up every year from now on because it was so much fun!

We went to Southern California in August for vacation to visit Trevor's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. It was a lot of fun and we can't wait to go back again. We were busy every day and did a lot in the week that we were there. It was a great way to spend our week off from school in between semesters.

For those of you who know Trevor and I well, you have probably heard all about the drama we have had with Harley. I think we changed our minds about whether we were going to keep him about 500 times! First it was me who wanted to get rid of him and Trevor who wanted to keep him, then it switched. We kept going back and forth and neither of us could make up our minds! It was so frustrating. Harley is a great puppy, but it has been really difficult because we are both so busy, not to mention that Jersey is taking her sweet time warming up to him. I guess that is just typical of a sister and brother relationship!

Harley's first night at our house. He was so exhausted from the excitement of the day that he slept all night. It was very decieving- we were actually thinking that this would not be that difficult! Oh how we were wrong!! We had a few nights that we thought the neighbors were going to report us for the noise level- Beagles can sure make noise when they want!

Even though Jersey gets really mad at Harley, she likes to keep an eye on him and can be a good big sister when she wants.

This picture makes me smile. Harley just looks so small. I can't believe how fast he is growing. In this picture, he was about 4 pounds at about 7 weeks old- now at 14 weeks old, he is 13 pounds! He still prefers to chew on our shoes rather than his toys. We have only lost one pair of shoes to his puppy teeth so far...

Such a cutie! He is at Grandma and Grandpa Linett's house here. My parents are so great to babysit for both of our dogs when we both have to work. We wouldn't be able to do it without their help!

After listing him on KSL a few times, actually selling him (yes, we got rid of him for a total of 24 hours), and finding people who really wanted to adopt him, I think we are finally set on keeping him. I think he was meant to be with us. We both have fallen completely in love with him over the past 7 weeks that he has been with us, although it has been quite the struggle. The first few weeks were really difficult, but he is now sleeping through the night and going potty outside the majority of the time. He is going to be a challenge, but I think it will be worth it. He already makes us laugh every day! He is just such a sweet puppy with lots of love to give.

Having Harley has made Trevor and I experience just about every emotion possible! There were quite a few tears at first, lots of anger and frustration, but now it is more laughing and fun! Harley has his own little personality- he is sweet, loving, mostly calm, very dramatic, and fun. We love him and think he is just the cutest dog in the world (besides Jersey, of course).

Someone once told me that beagles were the purest form of evil. I wasn't sure at the time what that meant, although it scared me a little. I now am getting a better understanding of what was meant by that. I think it has something to do with their adorable faces that are impossible to not love, their sad eyes that you cannot say no to, their stubborness that makes you want to scream, and their fun-loving attitude that makes you laugh! And the fact they have no idea about how much drama and trouble they cause!

I celebrated my 26th birthday with my family this year. I went to dinner the night before my birthday with the my parents and the Harris family. We went to Olive Garden and had a really nice time.
On my birthday, I went to Wendover for the day with my parents. Although I didn't win any money, I had a great time. We had cake and presents that night with my family. It was a fun birthday.

We brought Jersey over to meet Harley for the first time on Sunday evening. We were hoping she would like him since she sometimes has the tendency to ignore other dogs. Well, she loved him! It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. They played the whole time we were visiting. Jersey tolerated being jumped on and being bitten. She would follow Harley when he wandered off. I think she is going to make a great big sister. Harley fell asleep the second he was put back with his brothers and sisters. Jersey was exhausted too!

Our New Puppy

After months and months of asking and practically begging, I gave in to Trevor's requests and decided that getting a second dog wouldn't kill me. Jersey could really use a playmate. Trevor knew that all he had to do was get me to go look at puppies and we would have a second one. He was right. I fell in love with the first puppies we looked at - we put money down on an adorable beagle. After all, how can you say no to a puppy face?

Here is our baby sleeping with two of his six siblings. This picture was taken when they were about 2 weeks old. They didn't even have their eyes open yet.

Deciding on a name was really difficult for us. We finally agreed to call him Harley. It was the only name that neither of us said no to and that we both could stand. We have been to see Harley 3 times so far. This was taken on Memorial Day when he was 3 1/2 weeks old. Pictures just don't do him justice. He is much cuter in real life! He is learning to run and play. It is so cute to watch him explore.

Summer, Makenna, Sayla, and I went to the zoo for the afternoon. I love going to the zoo! We saw all the animals, ate lunch, and rode on the Merry-go-round and the train. It was the first sunny, warm day in a long time and we all enjoyed being outside. Love you Summer! Let's do it again soon!

I ran my first 5K in the Salt Lake City Marathon today. My friend Stacie and I went together and had a blast. I am so glad I did it - next up will be a half marathon :)

Thursday was Trevor's 25th birthday. He is younger than me, so for two months every year, we get to be the same age :) On his birthday, we were supposed to go the Bees first game of the season, but it ended up getting canceled. Instead, we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and went bowling later that night. I don't have pictures from that day because my camera battery died. We came home and had brownies (because Trevor is not the biggest fan of cake) and he opened his presents. I got him a few small things (the big birthday present was the motorcycle). We decided to continue the birthday celebration in to Friday. We hung out during the day, which was really fun since we don't get a lot of time together. That night we went to the Bees game. It was really fun - we ate a lot of ballpark food, watched the Bees win their first game, and froze in the cold, windy Utah April weather.

Trevor's New Baby

Trevor has been wanting a motorcycle since I have known him. I was opposed to it, being a nurse and knowing the risks involved. I finally gave in a few weeks ago. Trevor has been smiling since the day it came to our home- if only the weather were a little better so he could ride more. He had a few days of nice weather - just enough for a taste of the fun! When he gets a little better, he may be able to talk me in to going for a ride :)

Weekend Getaway

Trevor and I went to Las Vegas for the weekend. We left on Valentines Day and stayed over night in Trevor's grandparent's house in Paragonah, a small town about half way between here and Vegas. We had the house to ourselves and it was really nice. On Sunday morning, we drove in to Vegas and spent the day walking around. It was a little chilly, but we had a great time. We went to M&M world, which was way too busy, we gambled a little (and won about $100), shopped, and went to a concert at night.

Trevor was so great and drove the entire way- there and back.

Aunt Karolin, Uncle Greg, Luca, and Quinn came to visit from California this past weekend. We don't get to see them very often so it was really fun to hang out with them. These pictures were from Valentine's day. Trevor loves his cousins... and they really loved Jersey! Notice how they put a crown on her and made her walk around on the leash with it on. I'm not sure Jersey enjoyed this, but she was a good sport.

Mardi Gras...in Utah

Hillcrest High School has a Mardi Gras performance every year. Music is played by the band and jazz band, dinner is served, and there is dancing for anyone who wants to participate. This tradiation started my senior year in high school. We did the first Mardi Gras show... not such a hit! It had grown each year and has become a tradition in the Harris family. This year was Mitchell's final year (he is Trevor's youngest brother).

My First Day of Clinicals

Today was my first day of real clinicals for NP school. I had the wonderful fortune of being placed in a women's health clinic where there are lots. and lots. of vaginas. This isn't a bad thing, because women's health is extremely important. People (eg: my husband) don't realize the delicate balance the female body needs in order to maintain its health.

First, Trevor scraped all of the ice and snow off of my car, but I couldn't get the door open. I finally got the rear passenger door open and climbed over the back seat in my nice new professional clothes. The whole time Jersey was trying to climb in the car with me, snowy, wet feet and all!

When I got to the clinic, I observed the very first exam. Then, my preceptor applied the nursing axiom, "See one, do one, teach one," and it was my turn. I did the majority of the exams from that point on. I still have a lot to learn though! Interestingly, I learned that every woman's cervix is not right there when you open a speculum. This experience is a big change from taking care of post-op heart patients. It was nice to have the patients walk in to the clinic- and most of them were generally healthy! No one needed help going to the bathroom, getting up, or feeding themselves. They were women who take care of themselves (for the most part). It's definitely a change of pace for me.
I survived the day (and actually enjoyed most of it)... only about 75 more hours left!

Friends are the Best

Last Tuesday, a bunch of friends from work drove down to Payson to visit Summer after she had her baby girl, Sayla. Lindy and Russ were so nice to drive us all down there. We all loaded up and made the one-hour trek south. Russ and Andy sat in the back and watched a movie, Katherine and I sat with baby Cody, and Jill kept Lindy company up front. When the caravan pulled up to Summer's house, she looked a little suprised (but mostly happy) to see so many people. We talked, had great cheesecake (thanks Katherine), and took turns holding the beautiful new baby girl.

Christmas

This was the first year I got to celebrate Christmas. Last year I worked on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day - both day shifts. We went over to Trevor's parents house on Christmas morning to open presents with his family. His mom made us delicious Swedish pancakes. We left after a few hours because we both had to work that night so we needed a nap. It was a fun morning.

Decorating our own tree was fun too. I love buying holiday decorations for the house and ornaments for the tree! Next year I think we will need a bigger tree since I have so many ornaments. I don't think they will all fit on our small tree that I bought to fit in our apartment last year.

Caribbean Cruise part 3

Gumbalimba park in Roatan, Honduras. We saw beautiful flowers and played with the monkeys. They were so cute.

Cozumel was beautiful. Everything was so colorful. Trevor, Eric, Kristan and I took a speedboat to a private island for the day. We swam, played on a water trampoline, kayaked, ate a mexican buffet, and hung out on the beach.

This is Cayman Turtle Farm. This place was so cool. They had baby turtles all the way up to about 300 pound turtles.

We had a great time on our Caribbean Cruise. The weather was beautiful and the excursions were so much fun. We went on the Carnival Legend and we stopped in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan, Honduras. We went snorkeling, swan with the stingrays, rode on a speedboat at 60 mph to a private island, and went to a park with birds, monkeys, and beautiful flowers. It was a great week spent with the family. We laughed a lot and had a great time together. This picture is of our ship- it was beautiful inside!

This was dinner one night. The food was great and we loved our waiters, Louie and Alvin.

Mandatory lifeboat drill...definitely not the highlight of the trip.

My little brother graduated with his RN last night. One more nurse in the family brings the count to 3. He will be working at IMC on CVU4. After all of his struggles in the past, this accomplishment is amazing. We are so proud of him.

A Night Out

Trevor and I went out to the symphony on Saturday night. It was fun to get dressed up and go out with some friends. We had a romantic dinner prior to the symphony (the Wendy's drive-thru). We had a really good time and it was nice to relax and enjoy ourselves because we have both been busy studying for finals!!

Since we were downtown on a Saturday night in December, the traffic was horrible and we were forced to park far away. On the walk back to the car, my shoes were hurting bad that I took them off. Although it was more comfortable, it only took about 30 seconds for them to start going numb from the cold cement. My wonderful husband offered me his shoes since he was wearing socks. I still insist that he only gave me his shoes so he wouldn't have to hear me complain the whole time!

The Little Things in Life

Jersey just loves the snow! It's amazing how much fun she has and it is so fun to watch her play. Trevor and I just laughed while she hopped around like a little jumping bean in snow that was almost as tall as she is. Jersey reminded us tonight that the little things in life are definitely the best things! A much needed reminder since we are both busy with school and work. We love our little angel!

Look at her legs- those are giant snowballs stuck to her! We had to put her in the bathtub to get them all out!

Our 1st Anniversary

Trevor and I celebrated our first anniversary on Monday, September 15th. The night before, we went to my parents house to hang out and have dinner. We all had a piece of our wedding cake that night- it definitely tasted better a year ago! Both being full-time students, Trevor and I had to be creative with our special day since our bank account has become significantly smaller in the last few months! We decided to take Jersey to the park with us and then had a picnic lunch. We relaxed for a while before coming home and studying for a few hours (in separate rooms!). That night we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (mmm...) and then came home and watched our wedding video and exchanged cards and small gifts. It was a really great day!

I thought I would post some wedding pictures to reminisce about the past year. I have to say, we have had a really good first year of marriage. Both of our families came out to Utah for our wedding, and some stayed for a while after the wedding to visit. I took two weeks off from work which was wonderful. All of the planning and stress was worth it- our wedding day was perfect! It was great to be able to celebrate with family and friends. We took our honeymoon a few months later- we went on a Caribbean cruise and we had a blast. We loved it so much that I found the next cruise I wanted to go on within a few days of getting home. A week after we got home, we brought home our four-legged baby girl and then bought a townhouse in April. It's been such a good year. I love you, Trevor! Here's to many more good years!

Trouble with a capital "T"

This is our baby girl- yes, the one with her tongue sticking out. She was playing with her cousin Missy who is about ten times bigger than her.
This is Jersey and her best friend Gabbie. I love when the two of them get together because that means Jersey will be exhausted for the rest of the day!

Guilford, Connecticut

We took a trip back east in August to visit some of my relatives, particularly my favorite Aunt Helen who was 93 years old. She passed away soon after we visited so this trip was really special to me. This was also the first time Trevor came back east with me which was really a big deal since we have only known each other for 8 years! We had a really great trip!

It's always raining in Connecticut (well, not always). We were greeted by a huge storm when we arrived. I think it rained just about every day we were there, including a short downpour the day we went to NY.

Mmm...Dunkin' Donuts! This was breakfast one day (okay, more than one day) with my Grandpa and my parents.

Trevor, Eric, and I went to New York for a day and had a blast. We visited most of the tourist sites since it was Trevor's first time in New York. This was in front of the Empire State Building. We decided against going to the top since the wait was hours and hours. We also visited Battery Park, Times Square, and the Masonic Lodge.

As you can tell from the look on Trevor's face, New York City was somewhat of a culture shock! I took this picture a few minutes after we left Grand Central Station and headed out to the streets of Manhattan. Trevor had a good time, but likes small towns better than the big city. I think it was the trip on the subway that pushed him over the edge! We waited for the subway for about 30 minutes in extreme humidity (not to mention the wonderful smell of the subway station) while we were sandwiched in with hundreds of people. When the train finally arrived, Eric made it on and Trevor & I did not not because it was so crowded. We had to wait for two more trains before finally being able to get on and being packed in like sardines. And this whole experience was after we missed our stop on the previous train and ended up in Brooklyn! Just a typical day in the big city. Thanks for being such a good sport Trevor!

This is my first official post on our new blog. I guess I need to start taking my camera with me everywhere I go from now on! This picture of me and my hubby was taken at the shore in Guilford, Connecticut. I spent the first 13 years of my life in Connecticut before my family moved to Utah.
